using you face to animate is what adobe it trying to do with their latest soft where. the soft where makes use of of microphones and the web cam you can make creatures come to life in 2d. The program can be synced to body parts witch eliminates the need for riging. The program can also be used to lip sync what you are saying to what the creature is doing. To top it all of the soft where can also mimic a lot of the little thing that people do like swaying back and forth slightly that sort of thing.
This sounds like a grand idea the only problem is implementing it, adobe is famous for glitches in their new stuff and this sounds really experimental or in other words like it would be prone to a lot of glitches. If I had to guess this will become the standrd eventual but until then it just another buggy system to work try and work with, but a great idea.
