The film industry is massive in both its spendings and profits but unlike most industries who know exactly how to make a killer product every time, films making is more subjective, what appeals to one person may not appeal to everyone. It means different thing to different people, and over time has proven to be more of an artform than a product they can just market. to some Filmmaking is a dream come true, a life long ambition and dedication that ended with a dream job of getting to make a movie and see their vision come to life on screen. To other it is a challenge they take on wanting to push the limits of what is possible with current technology and what is allowed by current social standards. Some see it as a gamble, spending money to try and make a vision that could ultimately fail, but there is one thing they can agree on a director's biggest fear. That at the end of the day no matter how well you know the material or how good your actors are, that what you are doing just won't work and the audience won't respond.
What the article said is true making videos is an art form more than it is a business, because the don't give awards for iphones. Making films is hard and no mater how much effort you put being it the possibility of failure is always there. Its perseverance that guides film makes to create one of a kind master pieces.
